The NSW Health COVID-19 Vaccination Centre in the former Belmont Bunnings is set to open on July 19.

The former Bunnings site will reopen on July 19 as the new COVID-19 Vaccination Centre.

Hunter New England Health (HNE Health) said the centre had undergone a major transformation.

“Over the past five weeks, Hunter New England staff and contractors have been working quickly to have this purpose-built completed and operational,” HNE Health said.

“If you have already had your first vaccination at John Hunter and your second is due on or after 19 July, you will receive notification that your second appointment will be changed to the Belmont centre.

“From Monday, appointments will become available at the new centre via the COVID-19 vaccine eligibility checker.”

The new centre includes a waiting room able to hold 200 people, an observation room for 300 people, 35 vaccination bays, and the capacity to vaccinate up to 20,000 people a week.

The centre will also employ up to 100 nurses, 25 pharmacists and around 200 other support staff.

Both the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccine will be administered. Bookings are required.
