A family fun day is planned for Foreshore Park, with children’s charity Variety welcoming the 2021 Bash cars back from their outback adventure on Saturday, May 22.
The convoy of colourful cars will be one of many highlights on the day, with plenty of fun activities and family-friendly entertainment for the whole Newcastle community to enjoy.
Variety Acting General Manager, David Small, said 100 Bash cars were arriving at Foreshore Park at noon, with everyone encouraged to take photos with their favourite teams.
“It really is something special to see not only the convoy of cars arrive back—all covered in red outback dust—but also the grins of our Bashers having just completed their adventure raising much-needed funds for kids in NSW and the ACT,” Small said.
“It’s a great chance for everyone to share in the fun of the Variety Bash, especially for local kids who will love the incredible cars that are all decked out with some iconic characters—from Paw Patrol, Star Wars, Minions, Bob the Builder, Lightning McQueen, Scooby-Doo and The Flintstones.”
Starting at 11 am, the fun day will feature roving characters, live entertainment, food stalls, and a live radio broadcast from 2NUR FM.
Live entertainment includes classic rock musician Darren Rolling Keys and a 9D cinema experience, where audience members can ‘feel what they see’ from rain, wind, snow, and bubbles.
Families can also purchase $5 wristbands per child to enjoy unlimited inflatables, face painting, airbrush tattoos, and balloon twisting.
Food stalls will include Crafty Street Eats and the Variety BBQ trailer serving sausage sandwiches and Lulu’s Gelato.
The Variety Family Fun Day will be held at Foreshore Park on Saturday, May 22, from 11 am to 3 pm; for more information, visit their website.
